The more you have on your side from the very beginning, the better are your chances of success.

Always know your customers, clients and their organizations. Understand your customers’ goals and mission, their preferred modes of communication and what are the most important values for them. Learn how they like to deal with change, conflict and problems. This gives your clients immense confidence in your abilities.

Irrespective of the simplicity of the tool you are using (it may just a project scheduler) or the complexity of a collaborative project manager software; it it extremely important to know the tool inside out. Get the right training and certifications. Find ways to optimize the tool and its usage and promote the usage amongst your team.
