A wishlist for Sales Professionals in 2017
Sales professionals are a core part of any business. Arm them with the right information and the right tools, and they can go out and bring business. Seasoned Sales professionals build their own way of working and more often than not, their approaches and strategies are best left to them to execute as long as they are in line with the company’s overall objectives.
While organizations try to get the best of the breed onboard to rocket their sales, here is a perspective from the other side of the table! We bring to you the 5 things on their wishlist that they would want in the New Year 2017:
1. Culture matching – It is imperative that the company hiring a Sales person makes sure that their business culture aligns with the working culture of the hire. An argument can be made for the opposite side of the table too. But, under pressure of delivery deadlines and the need for hiring the best of the best, hiring managers often overlook culture matching. This can lead to heartache in the future.
2. Competitive Salaries – This topic can never be spoken about enough! You, as a business, need long term retention for the Sales guys you are hiring. Believe me, you do not want to cut corners in offering the best salaries and employee benefits you can afford. If you don’t, well, there is a business right around the corner who would grab your Sales star in a flash!
3. Long Term Security – Being a profession with extremely cut-throat competition, Sales has traditionally been a domain with high resource churns. That said, Sales professionals are people (like any other) who look for a long term job security. Do not put their neck on the line for the first signs of falling sales! Look elsewhere.
4. Interesting job content – It is very important for a Sales person to be interested in what he/she is selling. Cookie-cutter sales packages and collaterals might be good for the first line, but for the more experienced ones, you need to give them interesting content about your product/services and allow them to build their own strategy.
5. Live by your values – As a business and a brand, make sure you really live by the values you promote. Sales Professionals are extremely sensitive about business values and your conviction in them. That gives them the confidence, security and impetus they need to exponentially improve your sales.
